Shadow

Jeffery Beam

Dear one who lists
me among your treasures

Your shoulders' shy turning
says the gate opens

closes
and I am welcome

The path knows your footsteps
When you go out blue

jays rage in judges' coats
You tap your foot

hair stands on end
To fall into you

is to hear rifles
crying

for the heart
