A Biology Lesson on A.M. Radio

Izzy Gage

there are places where we can talk
about dissecting a cow's eye; how to suck on the retina
and offer the lens up as a polished stone
to gypsies in new york city
who will use it as a mirror,
wrap it in a tissue and place it in a jewelry box
under their bed.
when we are done with the eye,
we can nudge it away with the tip of a pencil
or a curled up dollar bill
and it will roll, oblong and lopsided, still smiling
at our faith in it.
