Update - January 1, 2020

Due to a backlog of accepted work, fiction and poetry submissions are closed for 2020.

Guidelines

Because Oyster Boy Review is published once or twice a year, the editors can accept only a limited number of submissions. As a result, most submissions must be turned down. Rejecting a writer's best effort is an unpleasant but necessary task.

Prior to sending any work, authors should visit the website to verify that submissions are open and to check for any updates to these guidelines.

The editors consider work that is not simultaneously submitted, previously published, or concurrently available on the Internet. For reply and return of manuscript, postal submissions must include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. The editors' preferred response is to issue notification and to recycle the manuscript.

Rejected submissions are issued a standard letter of reply. Submissions that pique our interest may receive additional comments, but editors cannot comment on every work read, regardless of its merits. Please do not confuse the submission process with a reading service.

In any case, the editors endeavor to reply in a timely manner, usually within three to six months, sometimes, however, much longer. Your patience is appreciated; please inquire when in doubt. With your query, be sure to include the approximate date of submission and whether it was sent by post or email.

Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to provide an electronic version of their work and a biographical statement. PDF proofs may be made available prior to publication for authors to check their own work. Authors receive two copies of the issue in which their work appears as remuneration.
